ZOFS Engineering is providing Resident Engineering Inspection Services for the $1. 45 billion East Side Coastal Resiliency (ESCR) project, which spans 2. 4 miles in Manhattan. This project is divided into two areas to comply with community commitments and aims to establish a robust flood protection system integrated seamlessly into the urban environment. Key components include the installation of floodwalls and floodgates, the elevation of East River Park by 9 feet for added flood protection, and the demolition and reconstruction of three pedestrian bridges—Corlears Hook Bridge, Delancey Street Bridge, and the East 10th Street Bridge—to improve ADA accessibility. The initiative also involves bolstering the sewer system’s capacity with interceptor gates and gatehouses to fortify defenses against flooding.
