PROJECT SERVICES

Construction Engineering and Inspection

ZOFS Engineering is providing Construction Engineering & Inspection (CE&I) Services for this project, a $16.3 million infrastructure initiative aimed at improving traffic flow and safety along Route 2 Eastbound between Exits 6 and 8 in Glastonbury. The project includes reconfiguring lane alignments, widening the bridge over Griswold Street, updating roadway signage, resurfacing pavement, and maintaining key bridge structures to reduce vehicle weaving and enhance roadway performance. ZOFS Engineering is overseeing construction to ensure compliance with CTDOT specifications and best practices, managing traffic control, and minimizing disruptions through detailed Traffic Management and Limited-Access Highway Construction plans. Construction began with a comprehensive preconstruction survey assessing existing conditions, including underground utilities and potential project impacts. Temporary lane shifts and controlled closures are being strategically implemented, with police and flagging personnel ensuring safety. Community coordination is a priority, with ZOFS actively engaging stakeholders, businesses, and residents while maintaining clear communication about construction schedules. Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT) plans have been developed to keep portions of the roadway operational, and challenges such as weather delays are being managed through proactive scheduling and close coordination with CTDOT and the public. By ensuring compliance with CTDOT's durability, longevity, and safety standards, ZOFS Engineering is playing a key role in delivering this project, expected to be completed by November 2026.
