ZOFS Engineering provided construction inspection services for this ambitious initiative to modernize critical water main infrastructure in Queens. This transformative project is upgrading the water distribution and fire protection infrastructure. The scope of work includes installation of 8”,12” and 16” water mains, replacement of street gate valves and castings, replacement of fire hydrants, transfer of house service connections to the new main, trench restoration, restoration of pavement striping and crosswalks, etc. Our inspection staff monitored compliance with detailed protocols for working near existing utilities and sewers, including maintaining minimum clearances and verifying sewer elevations at water main crossings. The project also required careful excavation and restoration efforts, including compliance with NYCDEP standards for sewer protection and ensuring the integrity of adjacent areas. ZOFS’s team was instrumental in ensuring the proper restoration of roadways, sidewalks, and curbs post-construction, contributing to the project’s alignment with NYC DOT requirements.
