The Port Authority has initiated a $19 billion public-private redevelopment initiative aimed at creating a reimagined John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). This ambitious project encompasses the construction of two expansive new terminals, the expansion and modernization of current terminals, optimized transportation infrastructure, and more. Terminal 4 and its surrounding transportation infrastructure are being optimized to better serve the increasing capacity of consumers utilizing the terminal. Including the modification and new construction of 11 bridges and a 5-story parking garage with an aesthetic charm. The client tasked our firm to identify the material impacts, provide quantity takeoffs, and estimating. PANYNJ is using Envision as the standard for what constitutes sustainable, resilient, and equitable infrastructure. Envision standards influence material selection by prioritizing sustainable options with lower environmental impacts over their life cycle, such as recycled, locally sourced, and low-impact materials.
