Highways

ZOFS delivers essential Construction Engineering & Inspection (CE&I), design support, and technical services for complex urban and limited-access highway projects. We focus on enhancing safety, improving traffic flow, and extending the service life of critical transportation infrastructure across Connecticut and New York. Our deep understanding of federal, state, and local standards, including requirements established by CTDOT, NYCDOT, and NYC DDC, helps ensure compliance and project success in high-traffic environments.

Our expertise spans the full life cycle of transportation assets, from initial planning and design to final commissioning and long-term pavement preservation.

Our Highway Projects

Our Core Expertise

Pavement Preservation & Highway Construction

Providing CE&I for large-scale resurfacing, specialized applications like ultra-thin bonded overlays, crack sealing, joint repairs, and MPT (Maintenance and Protection of Traffic) plans on major corridors (e.g., I-95, Route 15, Route 2).

Structural & Civil Design Support

Structural design, CADD/BIM drafting, and quality control for complex overpass and bridge construction (e.g., JFK Central Terminal Area bridges) and large infrastructure components like the Ground Transportation Center (GTC).

Traffic Engineering & ITS

On-call traffic engineering, site plan reviews, traffic impact studies (LOS/EAF), and the inspection and commissioning of advanced Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), traffic signals, and lighting conduits in major roadways.

Pedestrian Accessibility

Oversight and inspection of citywide capital reconstruction programs, focusing on the installation and rehabilitation of hundreds of ADA-compliant pedestrian ramps, sidewalks, and curbs to improve safety.

Project Management & Compliance

Developing detailed MPT plans for limited-access highways, managing security clearances (SIDA/SWAC), and conducting thorough preconstruction surveys to manage utility impacts effectively.

We pride ourselves on successful project execution under challenging conditions, ensuring minimal disruption to traffic flow and local communities while meeting all engineering specifications for durability and safety.
