Parks
ZOFS provides essential engineering design, inspection (REI), and QA/QC services focused on enhancing public recreational spaces and ensuring accessibility and safety within urban parks. Our work often involves the seamless integration of modern amenities with critical infrastructure, frequently tied to large-scale initiatives like the East Side Coastal Resiliency (ESCR) project.
We specialize in managing projects that directly impact community quality of life, requiring meticulous attention to public use, regulatory compliance, and minimal disruption during construction.
Our Parks Projects
Our Core Expertise
Amenity & Infrastructure Installation
Providing inspection and oversight for the installation of new lighting systems, electrical infrastructure (conduits, pull boxes, underground cabling), and permanent service for park amenities, ensuring safety and compliance with all local codes.
Public Space Rehabilitation
Management of construction activities related to the comprehensive rebuilding of parks, playgrounds, and sports fields (e.g., Corlears Hook Park and East River Park fields), focused on community enhancement and long-term durability.
Accessibility and Safety
Oversight of the construction and reconstruction of concrete sidewalks and pedestrian ramps across multiple locations to achieve full ADA compliance, including the installation and functional testing of audible push buttons and pedestrian signals.
Multi-System Integration
Meticulous inspection and coordination of plumbing (fountains, hydrants), drainage (manholes and catch basins), and electrical components to ensure they function safely and do not impede the operation of adjacent critical systems, such as floodwalls and drainage networks.
Design and Compliance
Delivering comprehensive civil engineering design packages (including MPT and tree protection plans) and performing rigorous construction inspection to ensure all field work adheres to strict NYCDOT, NYCDPR, and client specifications.
We are committed to delivering safe, compliant, and structurally sound public spaces that enhance the social and recreational resilience of the surrounding communities.
